- Our ‘A’ XI won a close fought SWCA T20 Intermediate Q-Final Cup v Pontardawe at Marespool this afternoon.
Losing the toss just before the 11am start, MCC captain Phil Roche led his side of youth & experience out to field. And, despite windy conditions, he was not let down as our guests were restricted to a score of 96-7 from their 20 overs. Rhys Davies (1-14), Sam Harris (3-13), 17 year old George Lloyd (1-6), 16 year old Alex Davies (1-18) and age old Ronnie Runout were the wicket takers.
In turn, the “Ponty” Boys made our lads fight hard for victory. 21-1 from 6 overs became 26-3, then 54-4 from 14..37 still needed at over 6 an over! A tight finish was on the cards!
Except that George (18no, 2 sixes) and his mentor Stuart Seaton (28no, 1 four) had other ideas, as they carefully saw their team home to win by 6 wickets in the penultimate over!
- Following this match, our ‘A’ XI played host to Llandarcy in the latest of a series of 40 over friendly fixtures.
Thanks to Owen Williams (1-15) and a trio of 16 year old stars of the future, Mike Jarrett (1-6), Luke Edwards (3-7) & Alex Davies (5-20), our visitors were bowled out for 58 in the 26th over. In turn, the Club chased this total down for the loss of just two wickets..top scorers were Carl Lawrence (20, 3 fours) & Sean Davies (16no, 4 fours).
A great day for Rochey’s lads for sure!
