Well, you were not expecting this today (5th) after the latest meteorological shenanigans of last night/early morning, were you?!
First, Eurig Morgan’s ‘A’ XI defeated the weather by managing to play their scheduled league match v Ynystawe on the artificial pitch at Murton.
Second, Eurig Morgan’s ‘A’ XI then went on to defeat Ynystawe by 189 runs!
“Mogs” chose to take first strike in a game reduced from 40 to 35 overs per side, owing to the delayed start. Making hay after the latest precipitation were Alan Harris (42), James Harris (84), Matty Jovic (20), James Slack (34) & Tom Hannant (27) as MCC rattled up a total of 252-8.
In reply, our guests found that it was not to be their day as they were bowled out for 63 in the 24th over. Captain Morgan (2-18), Gethin Mogs (4-18), Alex Davies (1-20), veteran Stuart Seaton (1-8) and Reggie Runout (1), well supported by 6 catches, shared the nine wickets required, with one player unable to bat through injury.
However, all credit to both clubs for getting the game on in the first place!
Our 1st XI & 2nd XI matches v Gorseinon were cancelled just after breakfast and around elevenses respectively.
Next Saturday, the 1st XI travel to Usk, the 2nd XI welcome Dafen to Marespool and our ‘A’ XI host Drefach at Murton.
