BFS BFS!

Oh, were Kapilan Radhakrishnan’s ‘A’ XI smiling yesterday..after Briton Ferry Steel were Beaten Fair ‘n Square!

Kaps decision to field first was more than vindicated as his men bowled their hosts out for 153 at the end of the 35th over. There was some periodic resistance by the BFS Boys but not enough, as bowlers Everton de Silva (2-14), 15 year old Eoghan Mckeegan (3-42), Sam Harris (1-25), Captain Kaps (2-26) and Joe Holland (2-16) set to it. Good all round fielding, including James Harris’ 2 catches & a stumping behind the sticks, plus the conceding of just 2 extras, combined to keep the home side under pressure.

After the break, MCC lost an early wicket but the rest was something of a stroll to be fair. Joe (23, 4 fours), Jon Brearley (46, 9 fours) and Stumper Harris (53no, 7 fours & 2 sixes!) saw to that – all over in the 26th over! A memorable 7 wicket victory in the sun! (Yep, “SUN”!)

Meanwhile, at Marespool, Abergavenny took the spoils in emphatic fashion against our 1st XI.

Batting first after losing the toss, our guests notched up 246-8 from their 50 overs, with debutant all-rounder Alex Oliver (4-43) being the pick of the home bowlers.

In reply, it was not to be our boys’ day as they were rolled over for just 134 in the 39th over. Ed Moger (27, 3 fours) was top scorer in the middle order.

Owing to an odd number of clubs in their division, it was the turn of our 2nd XI to sit it out yesterday.

Next Saturday (18th), the 1st XI travel to Penarth, the 2nd XI return to action v Neath at Marespool and our ‘A’ XI make their way to Drefach.
