Simple Rithmatic – a straightforward 4th victory this weekend!
In the absence of Kaps Radhakrishnan, our regular ‘A’ XI Captain, Dave Martin once again stepped in to take the spoils as skipper, this time over BSC Port Talbot in R2 of the SWCA T20 Intermediate Cup at Marespool!
Batting first, our guests notched up an “awkward” score of 125-5 in their 20 overs. Surely not really enough on our quality ground, but just enough to give our batters something to think about. All six MCC bowlers kept things tight, with the wickets shared between 17 year old Macsen Denman (3-19), 15 year old Eoghan McKeegan (1-24) and the over 18 year old Bob Stiddard (also 1-23).
Anyway, Gareth Baglow and Alan Harris had just the single thought between them..let’s not hang about!
Opening the batting for Doc Martin’s XI, they added 108 before Alan was dismissed for 29 (2 fours) at a run a ball in the 12th over. “Baggers” left the stage early in the 14th over, having thoroughly entertained those assembled as he smashed 78 runs (12 fours & 2 consecutive sixes) from 47 balls faced. This included 22 off the first 5 deliveries of one over! 114 – 2!
Two further wickets fell but it was too late for BSC – it was MCC’s victory by six wickets with over three overs spare!
Nice one, chaps!!
