..today (24th), as the overnight rain put paid to our 1st XI match at Dafen & the 2nd XI encounter with Ynystawe at Marespool.
However, it was much sunnier when Kaptain Kaps & his ‘A’ XI rocked up at Llandysul, a lovely ground which our hosts have tirelessly developed over the years. However, and unfortunately, the final match scorecard did not make “sunny” reading for MCC fans!
Our people were asked to bat first, and were duly bowled out for 82 in the 32nd over.
At 24-3, Kaps (12, 1 four) himself took guard with 14-year-old Tom Phillips at the other end. This classic combo of youth & experience worked hard to take the total to 65 when Tom (24, 3 fours) was dismissed.
Wickets then rather tumbled, akin to the water cascading over the Marespool outfield this morning! 65-4 soon became 82 all out!
In reply, Llandysul strolled to their 8 wicket triumph one ball into the 25th over. The two wickets to fall were taken by Hannah Thompson-Radford (1-16) and 15-year-old Sam Martin (1-4).
Next Saturday (hopefully!) sees this season’s final round of Senior league matches across South Wales. The 1st XI take on Cowbridge at Marespool, the 2nd XI travel to Ynysygerwn and the ‘A’ XI make their way to Llandeilo.
