The ‘A’ XI unfortunately fell at the final hurdle this afternoon (14th) when Felinfoel won the SWCA T20 Shield Final, played at Pontarddulais’ ground.
Felinfoel, who currently top SWCA Division 6 (one above where the ‘A’ XI play), were worthy winners by 6 wickets. Batting first, MCC totalled 120-7 from their 20 overs. Harri Turner (29) and Rhys Parry (25) put on 45 for the first wicket but the middle order could not really capitalise on this, although Jamie Sheldon (26no) did his very best.
In reply, Felinfoel were never in trouble, wrapping up victory in the 14th over. Harri took all 4 wickets to fall, ending with 4-40.
It’s been a great cup run by Alex Protheroe’s players, during what is only their first season in the SWCA. Alex is enjoying a fine season himself, both as a player and as a captain who is extremely well-respected by all he leads, whatever their age! So, well done to Alex and his entire squad…a top effort all round!
