What a final Saturday of the season!
Alex Protheroe led his ‘A’ XI to promotion by thrashing Neath at Murton, thereby clinching second spot in Division 7 in only their first season in the SWCA! Batting first, Neath were bowled out for just 54 in the 27th over…Alex’s Lads strolled to victory in the 11th over to win by 9 wickets!
REALLY WELL DONE, FELLAS!
Captain Protheroe and his Men at Murton!
At Marespool, Stuart Seaton’s 2nd XI finished runners-up in their Premier League Division behind Port Talbot who deservedly took the title. Seats’ Boys had a winning draw against Ammanford – MCC 307-8 (Nick Blyth 7no), Ammanford 263-9 at the close. A great season for Seats himself, and for his squad. It hasn’t been easy, what with for example some “erratic” availability around the patch etc, but there have been many fine performances from the promising young and the not-so-young alike!
Aneurin Norman’s 1st XI travelled to Ammanford without some regular guys, including influential all-rounders Rhodri Evans, on paternity leave following Savannah Evs’ safe arrival ten days ago (many congrats to Evs & Amanda!), Dan Lewis-Williams & Gavin Williams, injured/ill respectively. This was a chance then to blood some younger lads, including Harri Turner & Adam Frangakis-Williams. The team were beaten but it was a great game & performance! MCC rallied to post 233-7 which Ammanford passed on the penultimate ball of the game…7 wickets down! Despite that, Noddy’s Men finished in a creditable mid-table position, a distinct improvement on last year!
